New Requirements: Foreign Supplier Verification Program

Please note the important new reporting requirement for US Import of human and animal food imports. Please provide Buckland with the Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) Importer information for all applicable imports to avoid delays.

Starting May 30, 2017, all imports of human and animal food will require the reporting in every Food & Drug Administration (FDA) entry line of the FSVP Importer, including name, address, email address for responsible contact at the facility, and the facility’s associated Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) number. To obtain a DUNS number for free, visit www.fdadunslookup.com. DUNS numbers should be unique for each firm (a corporate headquarters with multiple company locations should not have the same DUNS number for each site). Each unique site (address) should have a unique DUNS number. FDA will temporarily allow the transmission of an Unknown DUNS if one is not available by the May 30 deadline.

The FSVP Importer is the U.S. owner or consignee of a food offered for imported into the United States. If there is no U.S. owner or consignee, the importer is the U.S. agency or representative of the foreign owner of consignee at the time of entry, as confirmed in a signed statement of consent.
