FAST Lane Opens at Fort Erie

On February 28, 2017, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced that the Fort Erie point of entry opened a new Free and Secure Trade (FAST) lane and inspection booth for commercial vehicles. The FAST lane will be open Monday to Friday from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm and will offer priority clearance if:

1. The driver is FAST or Commercial Driver Registration Program approved;
2. The carrier is CSA and PIP approved;
3. The importer is CSA and PIP approved; and
4. All goods are CSA-eligible from U.S. or Mexico.

The CBSA now has four FAST lanes in place at commercial border crossings and will soon be opening a fifth in Emerson, Manitoba. The goals of the FAST lanes are to simplify border crossing and offer further benefits to those enrolled in the Trusted Trader Programs (Customs Self Assessment and Partners in Protection).
