CBP to Increase Merchandise Processing Fee this October

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is adjusting certain customs user fees and corresponding limitations established by the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) for Fiscal Year 2024 in accordance with the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act (FAST Act) as implemented by the CBP regulations.

One of the adjusted fees that will be of note to importers is the Merchandise Processing Fee (MPF) with a minimum of $31.67 and a maximum of $614.35. This change is being made as part of the annual review to adjust for inflation and will be effective as of October 1, 2023.

The current MPF was set in October 2022 and has a minimum of $29.66 and a maximum of $575.35. The ad valorem rate of 0.3464% will remain unchanged.
