Earthquake Halts Operations at Port of Manzanillo

Around 1:00pm local time today, a 7.6 magnitude earthquake was experienced on the west coast of Mexico in the region of the states of Michoacan and Colima. Following the earthquake, a tsunami warning was issued for the area.

This has resulted in operations at the Port of Manzanillo being halted including Mexican customs clearances, and we recommend that customers with activity at this port review their shipments and make contingency plans. At this time, there is no time estimate for operations to resume at the Port of Manzanillo and it is expected that once operations resume there will be resulting congestion and delays.

In order to minimize the potential impact of this situation, it is advised that you reach out to your Buckland Customer Service Representative to prioritize shipments.

Buckland will continue to monitor this situation and provide relevant updates as they are available.
