Mandatory Electronic Reporting for Exporters

In Customs Notice 19-14 released July 8, 2019, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced that as of June 30, 2020, they will no longer accept B13As (Export Declaration forms) as part of the elimination of paper reporting processes. Exports will be required reported electronically by exporters or their Customs Broker.

Exporters will be able to electronically report their information in two methods: the Canadian Export Reporting System (CERS) and the G7 Export Reporting Electronic Data Interchange (G7-EDI). Once CERS is in place on March 16, 2020, exporters will be able to register. G7-EDI is currently in existence and can be used now. G7-EDI requires an investment from the exporting client.
