Transport Strike and Customs Delays at Port of Manzanillo: Southern Zone Deliveries Suspended on June 2

June 2, 2025. As operational disruptions continue at Manzanillo Customs Port, major transport associations have announced that no import units will be delivered to the southern zone on Monday, June 2, 2025, from 00:00 to 19:00 hrs. This coordinated pause aims to support customs in clearing backlogs caused by an internal work stoppage at ANAM (Mexico’s National Customs Agency) since May 12.

⏱ Planning Ahead: Buckland’s Recommendations

Due to recent operation disruptions at Manzanillo Customs Port, we suggest to plan ahead with a week’s window of tolerance, as customs clearance appointments are currently taking an average of 5 business days to get booked. Buckland encourages all plants and logistics teams to consider this window as the minimum time required for effective planning.

SSA and Contecon have also announced adjustments to their appointment systems, including automated rescheduling and cancellations of unscheduled requests. Please consult the full client advisory for terminal-specific guidance.

We are expecting that for at least the next 2 weeks, all ocean terminals at Manzanillo will continue facing port saturation and system shutdowns for several hours each day due to the overwhelming volume of appointment requests. Be prepared!

✅ Summary of Action Points:

We remain committed to helping you navigate this complex situation and will continue providing timely updates.

Sincerely,
The Buckland Team
