Update for Requirements to Import Engines into Canada

June 16, 2021 – New information is required by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) for imported engines to be transmitted as part of customs entries.

This requirement comes as a result of a technical issue with the release of the Single Window Integrated Import Declaration 4.02 version. As a result, a temporary solution has been put into place requiring an Importer of Record (IOR) to submit additional information as outlined in the guidance document until the technical issue with 4.02 is resolved. Importers of record will either have to fill and send form 1 (new engines) or form 2 (replacement engines) to ECCC prior to shipping to Canada.

The customs broker will continue to submit the current information on the entry. Importers who use Bulk Reporting are exempt from this requirement, however, the new fields will need to be added to their next report.
